Miss Van & Jeremy Fish at Fifty24, S.F.

I don't quite understand Miss Van's new love affair with badly laced oversized underbust corsets and I'm very concerned about the aerodynamic and fireproof potential of skunks, but ooooh well, there are deeper mysteries in art history than this and I'll just leave you with the details for her San Francisco show.

Miss Van (lower gallery level) has joined forces with Jeremy Fish (upper gallery level) for a double feature at Fifty24 where they will present spanking new works and possibly steal all your Christmas money. Details below.

"Illuminate" at Corey Helford, Culver City

Titania by Michelle "MIA" Araujo, acrylic on wood - click for details/larger view

It's the time of the year again when I can passionately and wholeheartedly boycott all coverage of the travesty that is Art Basel Miami Beach. There might be worse and more capitalist art fairs in other galaxies, but it's very, very hard to imagine.

But let's move on to more positive art news:

Earlier this week, Illuminate - a three-person group show featuring the works of Michelle "MIA" Araujo, Angelique Houtkamp & Robert Bellm (a rather arbitrary mix of styles, I must admit) - opened at Corey Helford in Culver City.

I think Mia's works truly show all that can be glorious and great about the much dreaded fantasy art genre when it's done right and I'm very glad to see that her works get more and more attention these days.

Good old Johann Heinrich Füssli would approve, methinks.
