Helnwein (previously featured here). I could stop this post right there as his imagery has long invaded our collective visual (sub)consciousness.

And even if his art isn't your cup of laudanum tea, the consistency, inimitability, relentlessness, uncompromisingness and the sheer scale of his oeuvre that now spans over four decades must doubtlessly be given credit.

As with most things not really age-relevant for a child in the mid-80s, it was my aunt who made me familiar with his work and Helnwein has confused and fascinated me ever since.

For the next four months, the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento will be showing a vast array of Helnwein's works in a show entitled Inferno of the Innocents that you really shouldn't miss. All details - including a special event with Helnwein in conversation - are listed below.
