Femke Hiemstra & Travis Louie at Roq La Rue, Seattle

The Fortune Cookie Hunter by Femke Hiemstra

Tonight’s opening reception at Roq la Rue brings together two artists who both share a passion to achieve artistic meticulousness and precision – Travis Louie by using a painstaking technique involving acrylic washes to create mesmerising textures & physiognomies, and Femke Hiemstra by creating bewitching miniature children’s book landscapes on tiny found surfaces.

I’m sure it will be fascinating to see Femke‘s sumptuously colourful and narrative mixed media works juxtaposed by the anachronistically monochrom and venerable portraits of Travis‘ fantastical hybrids.
