Hmm... I don't know how I feel about Chris Anthony's new series of work which will go on show at Corey Helford's off-site space the day after tomorrow.

I'm sure these pictures from his Venice series look much better blown up to huge wall-filling formats on a gallery wall than on the interweb, yet it seems that my mind wants to see the depicted scenes animated rather than captured on film. I feel a slight frustration that I cannot hear the waves, smell the saltiness in the air, and feel the wetness of the protagonists' clothes and the cold sneaking into their bones.

But maybe that's exactly what makes these photographs great? That the brain creates its own movie and soundtrack while the eyes look at a static image?

All you lucky L.A. bastards can go see Venice from Saturday onwards at Corey Helford's L.A. space.
