David Hevel's "The Cautionary Tale of Britney Spears" in NYC

Do You Believe I’m a Changed Woman and Mistameanr Gangbang by David Hevel, 2007

Taxidermy “celebrities” sit atop a carnivalesque bouquet of layered jewels, faux flowers, bobbles, bugs and butterflies.

These tongue-in-cheek sculptures bring to life the absurdity of Hollywood gossip and glamour with the mid-west aesthetics of a Martha Stewart wanna-be.

More funny than serious, the sculptures pull at the questions, “Just how important is all this anyway?”

The opening reception for MORE: The Cautionary Tale of Britney Spears takes place tomorrow, February 21, 2008 from 6 to 8 PM at Schroeder Romero Gallery, 637 West 27th Street, NYC.

Hevel's sculptural and illustrative works will be on show until March 29, 2008.
