I'm really just posting this because I get paid to do so by the Society for the Preservation of Dreadful 70s Collars, Shades & Perms, FYI.

Jonathan Viner's Computer Science solo show opens at Sloan Fine Art this coming Wednesday with, who would have guessed it, Elizabeth McGrath who seems to have magically awoken from her art hibernation and will present her The Folly of St. Hubertus piece alongside Jonathan's prehistoric nerds.

Both exhibitions remain on show until the end of April. Details below.

"Heroes & Villains" at White Walls & Shooting Gallery, SF

by Suzanne on July 6th, 2008

Liz McGrath by Tatiana Wills & Roman Cho

San Francisco's White Walls & Shooting Gallery (both located at Larkin St) will simultaneously be showing the touring Heroes & Villains exhibition next week.

This is a chance for all those who missed the show when it was presented at Corey Helford back in April.

Heroes & Villains is the photographic work of Tatiana Wills & Roman Cho who captured and documented the faces behind the so-called "Lowbrow/Pop Surrealism/New Fine Art/You Name It" art movement. (Yes, I hate using the word "movement" for something apolitical too, but unfortunately my frontal lobe has already drifted off to slumberland.)

And as ever so often, the Wurzeltod™ Award For Best Styling goes to the ever stunning & talented assemblage artist Elizabeth McGrath (pictured above - previously featured here, here & here) whose doe-eyed daintiness forever competes with her equally adorable oeuvre.

Opens: Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Artist reception: Saturday, July 12, 2008, 7 - 11 PM

On show: July 8 - 17, 2008

Addresses: White Walls, 835 Larkin St, San Francisco, CA 94109, USA, tel: 415 931 1500 | The Shooting Gallery, 839 Larkin St, San Francisco, CA 94109, USA, tel: 415-931-8035

The name of Elizabeth's secret webdesigner is finally revealed: It's the insanely talented Tara Sinn!

Also, if you're near a N.Y. newsstand, look for an article about Miss Derringer (Elizabeth's band) in the May issue of Paper Magazine.
