Spreading fear and mayhem in the visual arts.

Miss V and The Wait by Lori Earley

Disappointment of the day was Lori Earley’s Laments and Lullabies show at Opera Gallery but I entirely blame my naiveté for this.

There’s a reason why I avoid walking down New Bond Street: It’s full of nouveau riche pricks with more cash monehs than sense/taste.

And I really don’t need bouncers to give me a hard time for not wearing an ermine coat and the crown jewels on my weekly art marathon, so all I can say is this: Fuck you too Well done, Opera, you’re now on my NEVER AGAIN list. :)

As for the 5 minutes I was given to see Lori’s pieces: Nicely executed and super smooth, it’s like you can’t say anything bad about her oeuvre and you cannot not like what she does. Yet, her work is devoid of passion and spontaneity. If you don’t need these two things in your life, fine, but I regard them as essential and existential to all I am and do.

When I heard the bouncer/self-acclaimed art connoisseur/bully mentioning the price tag for The Pinnacle, I thought I heard my cerebellum explode.

Brown | Ryden | Earley

by Suzanne on April 28th, 2007

Yes! Finally some good news for Swiss BabyArt® lovers: My friend Trevor Brown's wee little Rubber Doll exhibition opens tonight at Büro Discount in Zurich.

Sadly, Mr TB won't be present, but I'll do my very best to do a credible impression of him. I swear you won't even notice a difference.

His works will be on view until 3 June 2007. Even though it's going to be a rather small exhibition with only a handful of paintings, you should all definitely come along, as this is a very rare opportunity to see TB's original oeuvre outside Godzillaland. Voilà:

The disquieting Muses

"Lori Earley's oil paintings are a unique combination of classical realistic rendering with a personal element of distortion. Their distortion is derived from her innate desire to render the world she feels as opposed to the world she sees before her. Often, the eyes are the primary focus of expression and every painting is a portrait of implicit emotion and mystery..."

Copro Nason's group exhibition featuring Lori Earley's work alongside the glorious oeuvres of Audrey Kawasaki and Yosuke Ueno will open this Saturday, March 11, 2006, 8 - 11:30 PM and will be on view until April 8, 2006.
